Prayagraj: Three departments of Allahabad University (AU) got new life official council (EC) has approved the appointment of 61 new teachers.

Physics Department. The Department of Chemistry has got a new regular teacher after a gap of almost 26 years. Out of 51 sanctioned teaching posts, the department was functioning with only five teachers. Now the department has got 32 new teachers.
The approval for appointment of these new teaching faculty members in AU was given in a casual meeting of the EC, which was conducted in an online mode, during which sealed envelopes containing the names of the selected teachers and the recommendations of the selection committees who interviewed them were opened.
During the meeting chaired by the AU Vice Chancellor, the names of the candidates selected in the interview for the 61 vacant teaching posts held between June 2022 and July 2022 in three different departments were approved. Prof. Sangeeta Srivastava,
“Many selected candidates have completed their education from IITs and NITs and obtained Ramanujan and Humboldt fellowships which are considered among the top in the world. Some of them have come from top institutions in the USA, Germany, Korea, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Ireland, France and the UK, and are working in emerging areas of research and their respective fields,” AU PRO Professor Jaya Kapoor he said .
He said that by making 164 appointments in 14 subjects so far in the last seven months, the Vice Chancellor has paved the way to give a new direction to the university which is facing shortage of teachers. AU officials said that due to paucity of suitable candidates in the form of envelopes, one vacant post of Associate Professor in Physics Department, three posts of Professor and one post of Associate Professor and one post of Assistant Professor in Department of Chemistry. The appointment could not be made. The names selected for an unreserved post of Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry will be opened only after the order of the Allahabad High Court.
