Nine killed in road accident in Barabanki

A bus and a sand-laden truck collided on Thursday near Babri village in the district, killing nine people and injuring 27.

Superintendent of Police Yamuna Prasad said that the bus carrying 70 passengers was going from Delhi to Bahraich when the accident happened when the bus driver tried to avoid killing the stray cow.

The injured have been admitted to the Trauma Center in Lucknow.

Condoling those killed in the accident, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the victims and Rs 50,000 to the injured.

Adityanath has asked the local administration to provide all possible treatment to the injured.
