Ben Stokes will miss the Ashes after surgery for his injured finger

Star England all-rounder Ben Stokes has undergone second surgery for his broken index finger, which is likely to rule him out AshesAccording to a report here.

Stokes, who has been on indefinite leave since his withdrawal from the home Test series against India, underwent surgery initially four months ago. IPL For Rajasthan Royals.

“Leeds-based consultant Doug Campbell, who also had the first surgery in April, on Monday removed screws from Stokes’ healed finger and resolved the scar tissue that was causing excruciating pain around his tendons and ligaments,” the tabloid said. Daily Mirror’ reported.

The report said that the broken finger will be much better now and Stokes will be able to play without chronic pain in the future. But the 30-year-old is not expected to return anytime soon. The Ashes starts in December.

On Wednesday, Stokes posted a picture on his Instagram with his wife, Claire, of his left index finger bandaged.

Stokes attempted to return to action this summer, playing for Durham in the T20 Blast in June and was also selected for the ODI series against Pakistan in July. England’s first squad was forced into isolation after the outbreak of COVID-19.

Stokes led a second-line team consisting of nine uncapped players, and guided England to a 3–0 series win.

However, he required pain-relieving injections throughout the series. He hasn’t played any form of cricket since July 26.

Stokes was then unavailable for selection for the T20 World Cup to be held in the United Arab Emirates.
