Earlier, Congress sources had indicated that the party is likely to get four ministerial posts in the new government in Bihar.

The Congress on Friday said the ministerial berth in the Bihar government’s cabinet expansion has been discussed and the party’s share will be “respectable”. Congress AICC in-charge of Bihar, Bhakta Charan Das said that he met Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad for the first time after the formation of the Nitish Kumar-led government in Bihar and held discussions with him. He said that Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav also met Congress President Sonia Gandhi and discussed the cabinet expansion with her.

Asked how many ministerial posts the Congress would get, Das said, “Whatever the number is decided, you will know when the swearing-in ceremony will take place. Whatever happens, it will be respectable.” “Discussions have been held with Congress President Sonia Gandhi,” he said. Asked about Congress MLAs seeking ministerial berths in Delhi, he said it was “natural” and “becoming a minister is not such a bad thing”.

Earlier, Congress sources had indicated that the party is likely to get four ministerial posts in the new government in Bihar. Cabinet, which currently consists of only the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar And Yadav, as his deputy, is due for an extension early next week.

Kumar and Yadav took oath on Wednesday, a day after the JD(U) broke ties with the BJP-led NDA and formed a ‘grand alliance’ government with RJD, Congress and some other parties.
