BJP is sleeping despite Joshimath tragedy; There is a need for proper compensation for those who have suffered: Akhilesh Yadav

Speaking to reporters in Lucknow, Yadav said that the BJP government both in Uttarakhand and at the Center was abdicating its responsibility towards the affected families in Joshimath.

Speaking to reporters in Lucknow, Yadav said that the BJP government both in Uttarakhand and at the Center was ignoring its responsibility towards the affected families in Joshimath.

Such a huge tragedy has happened in Joshimath and the government is still asleep. The government needs to give proper compensation to the local people there as they are losing their lifetime savings in setting up their businesses, hotels and now they are forced to leave everything behind.”

Yadav also said that the local people of Joshimath are not satisfied.

“If the government is going to give inadequate compensation, how will the local people there be satisfied? The government has already accepted that it has so much money in its coffers and also said that as its economy is improving, they should pay for all the losses and cover all the expenses.”

Samajwadi Party President said that if cracks have occurred due to NTPC’s project, then they should be closed immediately and no big project should be set up on the raw hill. BJP said that the party has changed its social media team.

“When BJP has no answer, they put police in front of them. No FIR has been registered on whatever complaint we have made. It means that the police is running the BJP.

“It is their strategy to project which caste man is to be used to raise which question. This is their caste-based thinking.”

The socialist calendar was also launched on Thursday on the occasion of Vivekananda Jayanti.

Asked about the invitation to participate in the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ in Kashmir, he said he has received the invitation and will discuss it within the party.

“Our party is not a part of the yatra, I wish them all the best, but our party has a different ideology and programme,” he said.

Yadav also said that he has received an invitation from Telangana Chief Minister KCR Reddy to address the BRS rally in Khammam and he will attend it.
