BJP’s big meeting in Telangana alleges PM’s return to ‘dynastic politics’

BJP leaders and officials from all states have arrived for the meeting in Telangana.

New Delhi:

The two-day national executive meeting of the BJP will begin tomorrow in Hyderabad, the capital of Telangana, where the party will explore ways to expand its footprint in the southern states. The party will focus on the achievements of the Narendra Modi government and set the agenda for the Lok Sabha elections in 2024, attacking dynastic politics.

This is an issue that has seen the ruling TRS and BJP come face to face in the past.

During his Telangana visit in May, PM Modi attacked “dynastic parties” in his speeches and attacked the TRS on his home turf. TRS retaliated. Even on the party’s foundation day on 6 April, PM Modi said, “There are many such parties in different states which have put one family above all, and to hide each other’s corruption. There is collusion between them.

The BJP will make dynasty or dynasty a big political issue in the next Lok Sabha elections, though political experts have questioned its own record, where many BJP leaders have successfully inducted their families into the party.

However, PM Modi is against giving tickets to the sons and daughters of party leaders. At a meeting of party MPs in March, PM Modi had said, “Many MPs and party leaders asked for tickets for their children in the recent elections and many of them were denied. Those who did not have tickets for their families.” Granted, his responsibility lies entirely with me.”

A BJP official told NDTV that there would be a proposal on the current political situation and the issue could become a part of it. There will be a meeting of the General Secretary in Hyderabad today in which the agenda of the National Executive meeting will be finalized.

Tomorrow morning, BJP President JP Nadda will preside over the meeting of national office bearers and the executive will begin at 4 pm at Hyderabad International Convention Center.

BJP has put up posters and hoardings welcoming top leaders including PM Modi in Hyderabad. The ruling TRS has also put up banners opposing the BJP’s claims. The party has planned a big road show to welcome the party president. The meeting will end on Sunday evening after PM Modi addressed a public meeting.

BJP leaders say that they chose Telangana because the BJP is expanding rapidly in the state. People are supporting the poor welfare agenda of PM Modi. Assembly elections are due in the state next year and BJP has started an aggressive campaign. Responding to this, TRS inducted four BJP municipal councilors yesterday.

An official told NDTV that the BJP will review past activities and discuss plans, including the upcoming assembly elections. BJP is the only party which keeps meeting from time to time.

The ongoing campaign to strengthen the party at the booth level will be reviewed. The 80-member National Executive Committee also includes 50 special invitees and 179 permanent invitees, including chief ministers and deputy chief ministers of BJP-ruled states, leaders of legislatures and state presidents.
