Man dies by suicide after killing wife, 2 minor sons in Chhattisgarh: Police

Durg, Chhattisgarh:

A man allegedly killed his wife and two minor sons at their home in Chhattisgarh’s Durg district over a family dispute. The police gave this information on Friday.

Devansh Singh said Bhojram Sahu (34) was found hanging from the ceiling fan in the room late on Thursday evening, while his wife Lalita (25) and children – Praveen (4) and Tekesh (2) were lying dead on the bed. Rathore, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDOP), Patan area.

The incident is from Umaroti village of Utai police station area, about 45 km from the capital Raipur.

Bhojoram’s mother and his elder brother’s wife were at home when the incident took place, while his father and brother were out for some work, he said.

“When they did not leave the room till late in the evening, other family members suspected something wrong and informed their neighbors. The neighbors peeped through the window of the room and found Bhojram hanging from the ceiling, after which They informed the police,” he said.

When the police broke open the door, the bodies of three others were found lying on the bed, he said.

“Prima facie, it appears that the man strangled his wife and elder son with a mobile phone wire, smothered his minor son with a pillow and then hanged himself from the fan over some family dispute,” he said.

However, no suicide note has been found at the spot and the exact details related to the case will be known after the postmortem report comes in and further investigation, Mr Rathore said.

The man was working as a contract laborer in a steel plant in Bhilai, he said, adding that a case has been registered in this regard and investigation is on.
