Box Office: Yash starrer ‘KGF Chapter 2’ opens up on Day 3; Will it break the record set by RRR?
KGF Chapter 2 starring superstar Yash, Sanjay Dutt, Raveena Tandon and others has been breaking records ever since its release. Directed by Prashanth Neel, the much-awaited sequel to the 2018 Kannada action film released last Thursday. Ever since it has grabbed everyone’s attention not only because of the great reviews but also because of the stellar performances at the box-office. Released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam languages, the film earned Rs 165 crore at the worldwide box office on the first day. In a span of just 2 days, it has become one of the highest grossing films in recent times. As per the latest reports by BoxOfficeIndia, KGF Chapter 2 is all set to rake in around 40 crore net range like metro areas and will go up on Sunday as well. The report said, “The three-day business of the film is seen in the net range of 138 crores, which will ensure that the weekend comfortably crosses the 180 crore mark and if it goes back to the first day level on Sunday then it 190 crores net. In four days. Despite the decline in the last two days the trend is stronger than expected because these 10% fall in the last two days is really nothing which is a good sign for the weekdays.”
Further, it read, “The way the film is going, it is going to be the highest Hindi grosser within its extended eight-day week and it may also come out in seven days based on Monday which will also be huge.” Though Monday will be another record tough like Baahubali – with the help of partial holiday the conclusion on Monday was crazy.”
Meanwhile, trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the box office figures for the second day, tweeting, “#KGF2 [#Hindi] There is a Tsunami… Hits the ball outside the stadium on the 2nd day… Trending better than all event films including #Bahubali2 and #Dangal… Aankhen ₹ 185 Cr [+/-] In its *extended 4-day weekend*… Thu 53.95 cr, Fri 46.79 cr. Total: ₹ 100.74 crore. #India biz. due.”
Interestingly, KGF Chapter 2 has crossed the lifetime sells of its prequel. The first day collection was shared by Taran Adarsh via a tweet which read, “‘KGF 2’ Day 1: ₹ 134.50 Cr… #KGF2 breaks all records on Day 1… Gross ₹ 134.50 Cr. Gross BOC [#India biz; ALL versions]…official poster announcement…”
KGF, which stands for Kolar Gold Fields (in Karnataka), is the story of Rocky (Yash), an orphan who rises from poverty and becomes the king of the gold mine. Starring Yash in the lead role, the story of the first part follows a downtrodden who later turns into a dangerous gangster.
Apart from the above stars, the film also stars Srinidhi Shetty, Prakash Raj, Malavika Avinash, John Cocaine and Saran.
