IPL 2022: We could have batted better in the middle overs, says Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant after the loss against RCB. Cricket News – Times of India

Mumbai: Delhi Capitals‘(DC) captain Rishabh Pant Blamed their middle and lower order batsmen for failing to capitalize on the platform provided by David Warner with a blistering half-century as they lost Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 16 runs Indian Premier League ,IPL) here on Saturday.
Warner scored a brilliant 66 and was dismissed in the 12th over to take Delhi to 94/1. Mitchell Marsh scored 14 off 24 balls and Lalit Yadav and Rovman Powell failed to contribute much as Delhi lost their target of 189/5 posted by RCB after being asked to bat first.
Pant himself scored 34 runs in 17 balls but in the end Delhi’s chase was lost and they ended up at 173/7 in 20 overs.

Pant said that he could have batted better in the middle overs.
After the match, he said, “Warner batted brilliantly and gave us every chance to win this match. We could have batted better in the middle overs.”
The DC captain said he would not blame Marsh for slowing down the pace and failing to get the ball out of square.

“Can’t even blame Marsh because it’s his first game (of this season). He looked rusty, but that’s part and parcel of the game,” he said.
Pant also said that Dinesh Karthik never let Delhi bowlers go towards the backend of RCB’s innings.
Pant said, “I think we could have bowled according to our plans but we were a little below DK (Dinesh Karthik) in the latter half. I have said earlier also, we have to learn from our mistakes.” Delhi suffered a defeat after a third loss in five matches.
