India sees steady rise in COVID-19 cases, with 11,558 active cases reported in 24 hours

India on Sunday recorded 11,558 active cases, registering a steady rise in the number of Covid-19 cases after a brief period of decline, according to updated data from the Union Health Ministry. Additionally, the country on Sunday reported 1,150 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, according to data from the Union Health Ministry.

This comes after a marginal increase with 949 new coronavirus infections in India yesterday, taking the total covid-19 case According to the data updated by the Union Health Ministry on Friday, active cases rose to 4,30,39,972, while active cases rose to 11,191. The death toll rose to 5,21,743, with six new deaths, data updated at 8 am.

Active cases comprise 0.03% of total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate remains at 98.76% Ministry of Health said. The active Covid-19 caseload has registered an increase of 133 cases in a 24-hour period.

According to the ministry, the daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.26% and the weekly positivity rate was 0.25%. The number of people cured of the disease rose to 4,25,07,038, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.21%. The cumulative doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination campaign have exceeded 186.30 crores.

India’s Covid-19 tally had crossed 20 lakhs on August 7, 2020, 30 lakhs on 23rd August, 40 lakhs on 5th September and 50 lakhs on 16th September. It had crossed 60 lakh on 28 September, 70 lakh on 11 October. 80 lakh on 29 October, 90 lakh on 20 November and crossed the one crore mark on 19 December.

The country crossed the grim milestone of 20 million on May 4 and 30 million on June 23 last year. The six new people include five from Maharashtra and one from Mizoram.

A total of 5,21,743 deaths have been reported in the country so far, including 1,47,826 from Maharashtra, 68,402 from Kerala, 40,057 from Karnataka, 38,025 from Tamil Nadu, 26,158 from Delhi, 23,499 from Uttar Pradesh and 21,200 from West Bengal. The ministry insisted that over 70 per cent of the deaths were due to co-morbidities.
