Business students summit at Angamaly to provide platform to youth to interact with industry experts

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will on Saturday inaugurate the Professional Students’ Summit, which aims to provide a platform for professional students to share their innovative ideas and interact with industry experts.

Around 2,000 students and 500 teachers from over 400 institutions are expected to participate in the event to be held at the Elux Convention Centre, Angamaly.

Krishna Ella, Chairman, Bharat Biotech will be the chief guest. Other speakers included Bhushan Patwardhan, Chairman, National Assessment and Accreditation Council; Amit Mehta, Head of Business Development, Amazon Web Services; Higher Education Minister R. Bindu said. Mr. Vijayan will also interact with the students.

Stating that the government intends to transform Kerala into a new knowledge society, Ms. Bindu said that universities and other higher education agencies are providing significant support for research and skill development.

“An IIT-level research center will be set up near the campus of APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University in Thiruvananthapuram. Mahatma Gandhi University has formed a company and started an innovation and incubation center at a cost of ₹35 crore,” he said.

The minister said that the primary consideration of the government was to create conducive conditions for the students so that they could fulfill their dreams of higher education in the state itself. He said that recruitment of students in poor quality universities abroad is a matter of concern.
