A day earlier, India raised concerns with Canada that its territory was being used by politically motivated “extremist elements”. Responding to the recently organized Khalistan referendum by a separatist group, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Arindam gardener Called it a “ridiculous exercise.”

The advisory issued on Friday said that there has been a sharp increase in incidents of hate crimes, sectarian violence and anti-India activities in Canada.
“The Ministry of External Affairs and our High Commission/Consulate in Canada have taken up these incidents with the Canadian authorities and requested them to investigate the above offenses and take appropriate action. The perpetrators of these crimes are still under justice in Canada. has not been brought in,” it added.
“In view of the increasing incidence of offenses described above, Indian citizens and students from India in Canada and those visiting Canada for travel/education are advised to exercise due caution and remain vigilant.”
Khalistan ‘referendum’
Some Canadian groups participated in the separatist program brampton Canada city on September 19.
Bagchi said India has strongly objected to allowing “politically motivated exercises by extremist elements” in a friendly country like Canada.
“We will call it a ridiculous exercise. A ridiculous exercise was carried out in Canada by extremists and radical elements supporting the so-called Khalistan referendum,” he said.
“The matter has been taken up with the Canadian authorities through diplomatic channels. The Government of Canada has reiterated that they respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of India and they will not recognize the so called referendum that is taking place in Canada, The Foreign Ministry spokesman said.
