Inzamam, however, feels that Babar has silenced his critics with the bat, adding that the star batsman needs support rather than criticism.

“There is no pressure of captaincy on him, he is answering critics with his bat. Captaincy is a difficult thing, and you learn it with time. Babar is going through that phase at the moment. Support is needed. The more confidence the captain takes the better the decisions he gets. I don’t think he should be replaced.” Cricket Pakistan quoted Inzamam as saying this during a program.

Inzamam also backed former teammates Saqlain and Mohammad Yousuf (batting coach) and said the duo has done well despite their ups and downs.

“There are ups and downs in the performance of the team, but Saqlain Mushtaq and Mohammad Yousuf have done a good job,” Inzamam said.

Inzamam’s comments came after the newly appointed chairman of PCB’s management committee, Najam Sethi, announced that the board would soon recruit foreign coaches.

The two-match Test series between Pakistan and New Zealand also ended in a 0–0 draw.
