Himachal Pradesh cabinet expansion likely in a day or two: Report

Nearly a month after winning the assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh, the Congress party is yet to settle on the names of ministers, and the cabinet expansion in the state is expected in a day or two, party sources said on Friday.

Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu is holding a meeting with the leaders of the party high command in the national capital regarding the expansion of the state cabinet. The chief minister held several closed-door meetings with senior party leaders and a final decision is expected soon.

“The Himachal Pradesh The cabinet will be formed in the next day or two,” a senior Congress leader told news agency PTI, adding that discussions are on for the same.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, former President of Congress will participate in the discussion Rahul GandhiAll India Congress Committee (AICC) in-charge of Himachal Pradesh is Rajiv Shukla and senior party leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.

Priyanka Gandhi addressed several rallies in Himachal Pradesh and was instrumental in attracting women voters.

Currently, Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu and his deputy Mukesh Agnihotri have taken oath as ministers of Himachal Pradesh. The newly elected legislators took the oath of office in the special session of the state assembly in Dharamshala.

Congress During the special session, Kuldeep Singh Pathania, MLA from Bhattiyat Assembly in Chamba district, was elected Speaker of the Assembly.

The chief minister affirmed that the five-time MLA’s experience and his background in law would ensure smooth functioning of the assembly.

“He has practiced in the High Court and knows the law better. Leader of the Opposition and former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said that the opposition was expected to get “full protection” from the Speaker, adding that Pathania would also get full cooperation for the smooth conduct of the proceedings of the House.
