CAT 2021 will have fewer questions, check new exam pattern

Considering the complaints of the exam conducting institute, IIM Ahmedabad has decided to reduce the number of questions asked in the B-School entrance exam.

Last year, the duration of CAT was reduced from three to two hours and the sectional time duration of CAT was reduced from 60 minutes to 40 minutes.

“Changes to last year’s CAT format were necessitated due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Since we are seeing the same pandemic issue this year, the format and pattern of CAT 2021 exam will remain the same. However, considering that there may be time pressure to complete the CAT exam due to the changes made last year, the CAT committee for CAT 2021 has decided to reduce the number of questions in all the three sections – QA, DILR and VARC. is trying.

However, the format of the exam will remain the same as last year. It will have questions from three sections – Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC), Quantitative Ability (QA), and Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR). The officials are reducing the number of questions this year to reduce the pressure of completing the exam on time.

In addition, the committee will release mock tests and tutorials in the last week of October to familiarize the students with the format of the exam. It will be available on the official website of CAT at iimcat.ac.in.

CAT 2021 will be a two-hour exam divided into three shifts. Candidates will be given 40 minutes for each section, i.e. VARC, QA and DILR, while PwD candidates will get 13 minutes and 20 seconds extra time for each section. In general,

The exam will be conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode. For every correct answer, the candidate will get three marks, whereas for every wrong answer, the candidate will lose one mark for each wrong answer. This year, IIM Ahmedabad is the exam conducting body.
