Center extends deadline for filing income tax returns till March 15
The Central government on Tuesday announced that the deadline for filing income tax returns has been extended till March 15, 2022. The Central Board of Direct Taxes gave information about the development today. Along with filing of tax returns, the deadline for filing audit reports has also been extended.
“Difficulties reported by taxpayers/stakeholders due to COVID and e-filing of audit report for AY 2021-22 under IT Act, 1961, CBDT fixed due dates for filing of audit report and ITR for AY 21-22 Extended further. Circular No. 01/2022 dated 11.01.2022 issued”, tweeted the IT Department.
The Income Tax Department said that this decision has come as people are facing difficulties in e-filing of audit report for assessment year 2021-22 under the IT Act, 1961.
The due dates for filing an audit report from an accountant, submission of a report have been extended up to February 15, 2022.
