Beijing: China still requires international passengers to be picked up before departure covid-19 test and quarantine on arrival, the customs office said on Friday, a day after customs-clearing travelers dropped some reporting requirements.
China, which has shortened the quarantine period and removed some testing and self-isolation requirements for incoming international travelers, still has some of the strictest COVID-19 policies in the world.
Chinese customs on Thursday said it has removed requirements for travelers to report dates of COVID tests, past infections and vaccinations to make entry more convenient.
“It’s not easy covid controlThe Customs Office said in a clear statement on Friday, referring to the change in reporting rules.
“There has been no significant change in the COVID requirements for inbound passengers.”
According to embassy websites, travelers wishing to enter China from other countries will still have to report tests and other COVID-related information to Chinese embassies to obtain digital health credentials to board their flights.
The number of international flights in and out of China has been less than in the pre-pandemic era, complicating travel plans for many.
