Woman has been taking her son for checkups every Lunar New Year
The pressure to get married and ‘settle down’ in life is something all Indians can relate to. However, this practice of constantly fighting with parents and relatives to get married is not limited to our country. In China, a woman was so worried about her 38-year-old only son that she decided to take him to a psychiatric hospital to be examined.

The man, surnamed Wang, from the central Chinese province of Henan, recently shared his ordeal in a video that has gone viral on social media websites in the country, sparking a debate about pressure to marry. In the video, Mr Wang says he never brought home a girlfriend on Lunar New Year, leading his mother to believe ‘there is something wrong with his head.’
Like every year, he was taken to the Henan Provincial Psychiatric Hospital on February 4th. However, this time something unexpected happened. The psychiatrist told him that his son was not sick and that he was the problem.
The doctor further said that Mr Wang’s mother had developed a mental disorder to “force her son to marry”.
“I shouldn’t be identified as a single person. I’m just too busy and haven’t met the right person. My mother can’t sleep because I’m not married, so I feel very upset,” Mr. Wang told scmp, The dutiful son said he went along with his mother’s strange hospital charms to cheer her up and reassure her.
Mr Wang, who works as a tennis coach, revealed he is known by the phrase “super old single man” in his hometown. He also said that he had not saved enough money for the down payment on a house in Beijing. “Who would like to marry me?” He asked.
