Chirag Paswan announces Bihar bypoll candidates with new name, symbol of ‘Khush’ party

After the Election Commission settled a dispute between two factions of the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) over the party’s name and symbol, Chirag, son of LJP founder late Ram Vilas Paswan, on Thursday announced candidates for the October 30 Bihar bypoll. He thanked. pole body and said “we couldn’t be happier”.

Paswan said that Anju Devi will contest from Kusheshwar Asthan assembly seat and Chandan Singh from Tarapur for Bihar by-elections on October 30. Milan Raghunath Gorat is the candidate from Dadra and Nagar Haveli Lok Sabha seat.

The Chirag Paswan faction was allotted the ‘Helicopter’ symbol and would be called ‘Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas)’, while his uncle Pashupati Paras was allowed to use the name ‘Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party’ and was called ‘Sewing’. The symbol of ‘machine’ was assigned. The Election Commission had barred him from using the LJP’s name and its symbol ‘Bungale’.

“We were given 170 symbols to choose from and that’s when I discussed it with my mother. She was the first to come up with the name of the helicopter,” said Chirag.

The Jamui MP said, “Even when my father Ramdas Paswan was alive, he felt that there was a need to change the party’s symbol… He always wanted an election symbol which was different in itself.”

Paswan, who has been with his uncle and his cousin after the death of his father Ram Vilas, said he was confident that he would be able to win the Bihar by-polls.
