Mumbai Police, apart from being an efficient law enforcement body in the country, also has a proficient hand in social media skills. The social media handle of the police force often puts up informative or hilarious posts based on the issues they want to talk about. Similarly, the Instagram handle of the police recently shared a post on ‘Misogini’ and asked how not to normalize something regressive like this. The post is getting a lot of likes and comments and people are praising the sensitive handling of the topic and also because it uses a Bollywood film to make its point.

This post has used some dialogues from Bollywood movies which are promoting misogyny in everyday life and called for showing them to the audience as public is often heavily influenced by movies.

“Cinema is a reflection of our society. Here (just) some (out of many) dialogues need to reflect both our society and cinema. Choose your words and actions carefully – unless you want the law to interfere!” she wrote while sharing the images. Images featured in the Instagram post featured sexist comments from several of the film’s films—the 1988 film From Malamaal to the 2019 film Kabir Singh. The hashtags #LetsNotNormaliseMisogyny, #MindYourLanguage, and #WomenSafety have also been added to the handle.

“Much needed. Respect and kudos to whoever is handling this handle,” wrote one Instagram user.

“It must have been difficult to choose just two dialogues from Kabir Singh.” Another said, it shows that the whole film was full of examples of malpractices.

“I love the way you are always on track with your values. Go bestie go!!!” Posted another. “What a compilation! In your face, #SayNoToMisogyny,” commented a third.
