Chromebook: Google introduces new camera features for Chromebooks – Times of India

Google has announced new camera features for Chromebook the user. The tech giant is continuously rolling out updates to improve the user experience on devices. Last month we saw a report from research firm IDC that Chromebook shipments have dropped significantly and it looks like the company is trying to bounce back by releasing these useful features. The company has also announced that it will soon be adding a feature to create GIFs on devices. Until then, here are the new features the company added to Chromebooks.
Scan Documents and QR Codes Directly from Chromebook
Chromebook users can now use the device’s built-in camera to scan any document and convert it to a PDF or JPEG file. If the Chromebook has a front and rear camera, users can use one of these to scan documents.
To scan a document with your Chromebook, open the Camera app and select “Scan” mode. When you hold the document you want to scan in front of the camera, the app will automatically detect its edges. Once done you can share via Gmail, social media or using Near Share like any other PDF or JPEG file on nearby Android phone or Chromebook.
Adjust Camera Angle Through Chromebook
Chromebook users using an external camera can use the pan-tilt-zoom feature to have more control over what the camera captures. Users can now crop and angle camera view as per their requirement. User selections will be saved automatically, so the camera angle preferences remain the same as they move from one call to another.
Video Mode, Save for Later and Self Timer
In addition to the features mentioned above, Google has also added a save for the latter feature which automatically saves all the photos and videos clicked by the user via the Camera app to the ‘Camera’ folder in the Files app.
With the Self Timer feature, users can set a timer and step away from the Chromebook to capture the photos they want, and with Video Mode, users can record a video that they can share directly to different platforms .
