City temples decorated for Janmashtami celebrations | Patna News – Times of India

Patna: Temples in the state capital have been decorated for this Krishna Janmashtami Ceremony on Friday. Temples and their access roads have been lit up with colorful lights and flowers in anticipation of a large number of devotees coming to participate in the midnight birthday celebrations.
International Society of Dark woman Patna’s Consciousness (ISKCON) temple was preparing to offer 20 tons of laddus. Lord Krishna, ISKCON temple spokesperson Nand Gopal Das said that devotees from other states would start arriving there early in the morning to participate in the two-day celebrations. The charming metal swing made for the birthday celebrations was being given the final touches of the decor.
Shri Krishna Pranami Temple in Gulzarbagh, Janmashtami The festival will be celebrated by worshiping the peacock, the crown and the flute (the symbolic peacock feather, crown and flute played by Lord Krishna). its head priest Sukhdev Pranami Said, “The temple, believed to be more than two centuries old, attracts a large number of devotees from Patna city and surrounding rural areas like Fatuha and Khusrupur on normal days, but on special occasions like Janmashtami their numbers increase. ”
He said that the main feature of the festival would be to offer 108 types of prasad to Krishna as bhog, apart from the singing of religious songs and hymns.
Arrangements have also been made in Mahavir temple for Janmashtami. Its secretary Acharya Kishore Kunal said that apart from Bhagwat Katha, there would be recitation of Shrimad Bhagavad Gita and a special aarti at midnight.
Ramaswamy Pandit, head priest of Hanuman temple near St. Karen’s School on Gola Road, said that Janmashtami will be celebrated with pomp. He said that the temple was decorated with colorful lights and a special brass swing was brought from Banaras on the occasion.
Apart from the temples, the local markets were also buzzing with activities, mainly the sale of special clothes for children and crowns to commemorate the childhood of Lord Krishna. Several roadside stalls selling these items did vigorous business in Danapur, Raja Bazar, Kadamkuan, Boring Road, Kankarbagh, Mithapur and Patna city on Thursday.
