Classic car converter Zero Labs unveils third generation EV platform

Xero Labs has been at the forefront of helping users convert their classic cars into EVs and has now expanded its third generation platform with nearly 2,000 proprietary upgrades. Xero Labs is also based in California and has custom EV design technology which was founded in 2015.

“Many of our customers already have an EV as a daily driver, but they feel that new plastic electric vehicles have little to do with ‘spirit’ or personal history. Bridging the growing gap between modern electric cars, The need between your favorite past and future is where we come in. Our new generation of classic electric vehicles is one of the best and built in decades past, as well as producing an extremely safe yet covert electric drive system.” Founder and CEO Adam Rowe said during the launch of the new platform.

In 2020, Zero Labs converted the first generation Ford Bronco and Land Rover Series III into EVs using modern materials while maintaining the classic look of the iconic vehicles. It also includes aerospace-grade carbon fiber and its own unique electric car platform. What Xero Labs did not disclose at the time was that these conversions used a third-generation platform that has now been customized for its customers.

Some of the key features of this new platform include adjustable ride height control, auto-sensing rack and pinion steering and one-pedal driving. Zero Labs has introduced an independent front and rear suspension and a 592 bhp dual-motor system that also promises a range of 402 km. There’s even an optional upgrade to Level 3 DCFC and a software upgrade in tow.

These upgrades will be applicable to the Ford Bronco, Land Rover Series III and Defender 110. Production models will arrive in early 2022. Adam Rowe has also revealed that electrified classic sports cars are planned, but he did not say when that would happen. It is working its way down from SUVs to pickups, T0 body on frame muscle cars, unibody vehicles and coupes. It has already closed orders for an average of $350,000 for 2022 and 2023.
