Close-up video of snow leopard, one of the most elusive big cats, stuns the internet

The video of snow leopard has created a sensation on the internet.

There are very rare moments when a photographer is able to capture a close-up of a snow leopard, one of the most elusive big cats. But a video shared by Indian Forest Office (IFS) Sushant Nanda is making a splash on social media because of this. In this 44-second video, a snow leopard is seen relaxing and posing for photographs in its natural habitat. The IFS officer has credited the clip to the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). Since being posted on Wednesday, it has collected over 26,000 views and over 2,300 likes.

In his tweet, the IFS officer said, “The elusive snow leopard during snowfall… in the Karakoram range.”

The attached video begins with a very close up of the big cat where it is seen resting on top of a rock. The clip also features a top shot that shows a full view of Snow Leopard.

After some time, as the video progresses, the animal also growls and attacks.

The clip amused Twitter users, who posted a barrage of comments.

“Anything more beautiful than that? One of God’s miracles!” tweeted a user. “The first time I did it I felt royal, different and happy at the same time,” said another.

A third user wrote, “Majestic… elusive but powerful.”

According to WWF websiteThe snow leopard is sparsely distributed in 12 countries in Central Asia, and is at home in high, rugged mountain landscapes.

Snow leopards have a beautiful, spotted coat, which is thick enough to protect them from the cold. The website further states that their wide, fur-covered feet distribute their weight on soft snow like natural snowshoes.

It further said that snow leopards are skilled hunters, capable of killing prey up to three times their weight in challenging terrain.
