Hockey India begins 50 days countdown for World Cup by announcing ticket sales

Hockey India Announced the start of ticket sales for FIH on Thursday World Bhubaneswar-Rourkela Cup, marking the milestone of 50 days countdown and giving sports fans around the world an opportunity to secure their seats to watch the action in Odisha.

The tournament, to be held from January 13 to 29 next year, will see 16 teams fighting for the coveted trophy. The event will be held at the iconic Kalinga Hockey Stadium and the newly constructed Birsa Munda Stadium in Rourkela.

Speaking on the occasion, Hockey India President Dilip Tirkey said, “The final preparations for the World Cup are underway. We look forward to welcoming all the participating teams and hockey lovers from around the world to be a part of this historic event.

“The Government of Odisha has yet again set a new global benchmark by providing an incredible venue like the Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium in Rourkela which is the heart of Odisha’s hockey belt and has state-of-the-art facilities including seating for over 20,000. ability. With two venues being used this time, the event is definitely going to be bigger and more exciting than any other hockey tournament.”

The Birsa Munda Stadium will host its first hockey match on the opening day of the tournament, with England taking on Wales on January 13. After this match, India will take on Spain in their first match of the campaign.

In Bhubaneswar, former Olympic champions Argentina will face South Africa while world number one Australia will take on France.

Ace drag-flicker Harmanpreet Singh, who is currently leading the Indian team in a five-match preparatory series against Australia, displayed his team’s enthusiasm as tickets sold out to the public.

“It was a packed house in Bhubaneswar during the FIH Pro League matches, we played in front of our fans after almost two years and it was a great experience. We look forward to playing them at a new stadium in Rourkela during the World Cup, where we will start our campaign and play there for the first time.
