One of the biggest highlights of the Birmingham edition of the Commonwealth Games is the inclusion of the women’s T20I international, which is expected to attract the attention of many across the globe. The T20I portion of the multi-national event is getting a lot of attention, especially from the local audience and high attendance is expected in every game that is to be played. Surpassing all expectations, 1.2 million tickets have already been sold and the India-Pakistan clash is contributing the most.

Women’s cricket is making its debut at the Commonwealth Games, and India and Pakistan will meet at Edgbaston on 31 July. The city is home to a substantial number of people of Indian and Pakistani origin. Birmingham Games CEO Ian Reid said semi-final and final tickets have already been taken, while he expects a sell-out crowd for the India-Pakistan match.

,I myself am a big fan of cricket. India is in the same group as Pakistan, so there has been interest shown here in Birmingham. This is a prestigious venue, your men’s team has played here recently in the last few weeks. So this will definitely be one of the highlights of the games. Tickets for the semi-finals and final are already sold out with the hope that India and England will be there. India and Pakistan will be close to capacity. We will see an uptick in ticket sales very close to the event. so i hope india pakistan game will sell out soon“, Reid said.

All 72 members of the Commonwealth have confirmed their participation in the multi-sport event and around 5000 athletes are expected to participate in the multi-nation sporting event.
