Ather 450X Gen 3: 5 major upgrades that make it better in 2022 – Times of India

On July 19, Ather Energy launched the third generation of the 450X and 450 Plus electric scooters in India. While the design of the 450X is largely the same. There are several significant upgrades that Ather has given on the e-scooter to make it an overall better and more customized package. Here are 5 major upgrades that the 2022 Ather 450X has received:

1. Bigger Battery = More Range:
The first major upgrade in the 450X is the larger 3.7kWh capacity battery pack which is 25 percent larger than the 2.96kWh battery pack on the Gen 2. As a result, the 450X now comes with a certified range of 146 km and a ‘True Range’ of 105 km on a full charge.
2. Smart ECO Mode:
For 2022, Ather has also introduced the all-new Smart ECO Mode algorithm that dynamically optimizes the performance of the scooter for maximum efficiency. If one is riding enthusiastically in SmartEco mode, it will eventually reduce the power of the scooter to the maximum extent and similarly if you are riding conservatively, it will allow you stronger acceleration when needed .

3. Advanced Hardware in Digital Dashboard:
The Ather 450X sports a 7-inch touchscreen dashboard that stores all the vehicle information, applications, ride modes and other UIs. For 2022, the Ather has upgraded the Android OS system with 16GB of memory space and 2GB of RAM, which is twice as much as the Gen 2. This allows the rider to store more apps and enables easy operation of existing system apps and on-board navigation.
4. New Performance Tires:
Ather has also added 110/80 performance tires to the 450X’s arsenal for 2022. The tires are co-developed with MRF and offer a 16 percent high contact patch that helps the 3rd gen 450X to stop completely, a quarter of a second faster than on the Generation 2. The rear tire profile is also wider than before.

5. Redesigned Rear View Mirror:
After receiving complaints about the original rear-view design and its practicality, Ather has redesigned the 450X’s mirrors for the Gen 3 model. The new design offers a 25 percent wider viewing angle and is lighter and stronger too. It now also has a single adjustment mechanism.
Apart from these upgrades, the Ather has also introduced a new Space Gray color scheme, and a host of accessories like TPMS, side-steps and more. The top speed of 80 kmph, maximum power of 6 kW from the PMSM motor and 0-100 per cent charging time of 5 hours 45 minutes remain the same as the Gen 2. There is also a fast charging time of 1.5 km per minute (up to 50 per cent). Unchanged.
