Congress comeback in Rajasthan in 2018 because of my past work: Ashok Gehlot | India News – Times of India

JAIPUR: In a stark rebuttal to his former deputy, Sachin Pilot, the chief minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot said on Thursday Congress Returned to power in 2018 because of the work done by him in his previous dispensation.
As he said this, he set a target of winning 156 seats in the assembly elections to be held later this year.
Pilot, who has been locked in a power battle with Gehlot for a long time, had recently said that the Congress’ return to power was due to the struggle of party leaders and workers from 2013 to 2018, when he was the PCC chief.
At a public event, Pilot also talked about the need for the younger generation of leaders to replace the older ones.
Pilot has repeatedly said that the number of Congress MLAs, which had dwindled to 21 in 2013, was increased only after the party high command made him the PCC chief in the state.
Gehlot, without naming Pilot, said the 2013 defeat was largely due to the ‘Modi wave’, but within six months BJP The government in the state, the people had realized their mistake.
He said, “So an atmosphere was created and that was a big reason for the Congress to come back. There are always other reasons, like the struggle of the party workers on the streets. But the main reason was that in the minds of the people they had It was a mistake by changing the government in 2013.”
Gehlot said the BJP has no issue to speak against his government and there is no anti-incumbency sentiment among the people, who are happy with its schemes and programmes.
He said that state schemes like Chiranjeevi Health Insurance are being talked about across the country and the employees are happy with the revival of the old pension scheme.
“Our path is clear. When our government came in 1998, it had 156 seats, then I was the PCC chief. I want to move forward with ‘Mission 156’. We have started working in that direction,” he said. “
Gehlot said his MLAs supported him and helped him deal with infighting during the political crisis in 2020, which saved his government.
He said he fought hard to save his government and serve the people and would continue to do so till his “last breath”.
He said, “When I speak, I speak thoughtfully, I don’t speak without thinking. It is God’s gift to me that when I speak, my heart’s voice comes on my tongue.”
He said, “This time there is no resentment among the public, there is no resentment against the government and there is no Modi wave like before. I hope people will support me.”
On the opposition, he said that the BJP has mastered the art of ‘horse trading’ and toppling governments, which it has done in other states, but failed in Rajasthan because of the support of the legislators and the public.
The CM said that the state BJP has no real issue to target his government and that is why it has been reprimanded by the high command.
Gehlot said that he and Rajasthan are on the target of BJP and this is the reason why BJP President JP Nadda and other leaders visit Rajasthan again and again.
