As political heat rises Munugode in by-electionUnknown miscreants set fire to the Congress party office in Chandur mandal of Munugode assembly constituency in the early hours of Monday and also damaged the publicity material and the office.

Telangana Congress President A. Revanth Reddy made an impressive show in Chandur in support of party candidate Palavai Shravanthi a few days back and is scheduled to campaign on Tuesday as well. Police is investigating after reaching the spot.

Mr Revanth Reddy, expressing his anger over the incident, demanded the police to arrest those responsible within 24 hours, else he would personally sit on a dharna at the Superintendent of Police (SP) office and demand justice.

Mr Reddy said that both the BJP and the TRS are unable to digest the response the party is getting in the constituency and are trying to demoralize the Congress cadre by such extremist acts. He said the Congress would neither be intimidated nor backed down even if their offices were burnt and the cadre would ensure that the Congress flag in Munugode would be hoisted with a thumping victory.

He also called for a protest against TRS and BJP in Yadadri district. On Monday, BJP candidate Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy filed his nomination papers in Chandur while attending a huge rally of supporters. He turned the event into a show of strength after resigning from the Congress and joining the BJP due to the by-elections.
