Tharoor, the Thiruvananthapuram MP, told reporters that he was not going to back down from the polls and betray those who have supported him so far in his endeavour.

He said, “I was not expecting any support from the big leaders of the party and I am not expecting it even now. In fact, I met party workers in Nagpur, Wardha and then in Hyderabad. They are the ones who are from me. Asking to contest elections and will not back down.” from this.”

He also said that while “most of his supporters are youth party leaders and party workers”, he needs everyone’s support and will not spare anyone.

Asked whether Sudhakaran’s public support for Kharge was to discourage others from supporting him, Tharoor said, “Maybe. But I am not saying that. I don’t need to understand that. What is going on in people’s mind. I will say one thing. , no one says anything in secret or in public, ballot is secret.

“No one will know who voted for whom. People can vote according to their wish and belief. They can decide whom they want to strengthen the party and make it a reality to meet the challenges in future. want to prepare.”

Regarding Sudhakaran’s statement, the Thiruvananthapuram MP said the KPCC chief probably expressed his personal judgment and preference and “there is nothing wrong in that.”

“He cannot give a direction which is clear from the circular issued by the party preventing party functionaries from campaigning for candidates. But please don’t ask me about it. If the election authority wants to do something about it, it will Have them,” he said.

In the election circular issued by the party on Monday, it has been said that AICC General Secretary / Incharge, Secretary, Joint Secretary, President of Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC), Leader of Congress Legislature Party (CLP), Head of Frontal Organizations, Head of Departments , the cell and all official spokespersons “will not campaign in favor or against the candidates.”

If they want to support a candidate, they have to first resign from their organizational post, after that they will participate in the campaign process.

Voting for the post of Congress President will be held on October 17.

Counting of votes will take place on October 19 and results will be declared on the same day.

More than 9,000 Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) representatives will vote in the election.
