Addressing the media, the minister said that to save the lives of Sri Lankan Tamils, former chief minister M. Karunanidhi set up camps at 106 places in the state and ensured their safety. Chief Minister MK Stalin had announced the construction of over 7,000 houses for them at a total cost of Rs 317 crore and the foundation stone had been laid for the construction of 3,500 houses in the first phase, he said, adding that the work would continue across the state.
