Corporal punishment: Police registers case against lecturer

Patamata police registered a case against Ravi Kumar, a lecturer who allegedly kicked a student at Sri Chaitanya Junior College in class.

Two days ago, a physics lecturer thrashed and kicked a second year intermediate student for not paying attention in class and harassing other students.

The police registered a case under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, section 323 IPC (causing hurt) and other sections following a complaint lodged by the college’s principal Shivaram Krishna.

However, no arrest has been made in the case so far and investigation is on, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Vishal Gunni said.

Meanwhile, the Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) officials issued notice to the college management on the issue.
