Cristiano Ronaldo back to training with Manchester United after talks with Eric ten Haag

Manchester United manager Eric ten Haag held talks with crisis-hit striker Cristiano Ronaldo at Carrington on Tuesday and the talismanic Portuguese star later returned to training with the first-team squad.

Ronaldo was relegated to United’s 1-1 draw at Chelsea after refusing to come in a 2-0 win over Tottenham at Old Trafford last Wednesday and trained to stay away from the team.

But after talks with Ten Haag, Ronaldo resumed training with the first-team group and is struggling to open his Europa League tie against Sheriff Tiraspol at Old Trafford on Thursday.

According to a report in Mirror.co.uk, Ten Haig and Ronaldo were in constant talks as it was decided to release the forward for Chelsea’s game and take him out of training for three days.

Ten Hague made it clear that it would not tolerate Ronaldo’s public appearances and decided to set the example of United’s most high-profile player, to show that such conduct cannot be tolerated.

On Tuesday, Manchester United said in a statement that Ronaldo had returned to training with the first team.

Cristiano Ronaldo also returned to group training, after missing out on Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Harry Maguire, Donny van de Beek and Aaron Wan-Bissaka were all in the group, the club said in a release. Joined as he is recovering from injury.

Maguire has not featured in a match since a 2–0 win over the Sheriff in Chisinau in mid-September, with a thigh problem, picked up while playing for England, keeping him on edge so far in October. Van de Beek and Van-Bissaka have been out for a long time, the pair last appearing for the first team in the final leg of our 2-1 win over Liverpool in August.
