Cuddalore DMK MP TRVS Ramesh, who was sent to judicial custody for three days after he surrendered in a case related to the murder of a worker at his cashew unit, has sought first-class jail in Cuddalore Central Jail if His Covid-19 result is negative.
Ramesh, the main accused in the case, was absconding after 60-year-old activist Govindarasu was found dead in September. Initially fleeing, he surrendered before the Panruti Judicial Magistrate Karpagavalli on Monday. The hearing of the case has been adjourned till October 13.
Before surrendering, Ramesh said in a statement that some political parties have falsely campaigned against the DMK after the death of the worker. He said that since he did not want to give room to such false propaganda against the good governance of the DMK, he decided to surrender. He also said that he will face charges and prove legally that the allegations are false.

The CB-CID had arrested five persons identified as MP K PA Natarajan, Allah Pichai, cashew factory manager Kandavel, Sundararajan and Vinoth.
According to the police, Govindarasu was murdered on September 30. Before his murder, he was produced at the local police station at Kadayampuliyur in Panruti by accomplices with bruises on his face. Colleagues had complained that he had stolen cashew nuts from the factory. Following the instructions of the police that he was to be taken to the hospital for treatment, he fled from the police station. Later, Govindarasu was found dead in the factory.
On September 19, when Govindarasu did not return home after work, his son-in-law Senthilvel lodged a complaint with the Kadampuliyur police. Senthilvel said the MP’s personal assistant called him from his father’s mobile phone at 2.25 am on September 20 and said that his father had consumed poison in the unit and was taken to Panruti Government General Hospital where doctors found him dead. declared.
