Decrease in numbers, Jack defunct from ’18 | Ranchi News – Times of India

Ranchi: Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC), the nodal body responsible for conducting school and intermediate examinations, has been virtually deactivated with effect from January 15, 2018 for lack of members.
The strength of the administrative body of the JAC is 19 but at present, there are only seven members. For convening any meeting and taking decisions, the body requires a quorum of eight members. The last meeting of the council was held before January 2018.
JAC, lamenting the non-functioning of its President, Anil Kumar Mahtosaid, “We are not able to convene a meeting or take a decision due to low numbers. If we have one more member then our problem will be solved.”
Mukesh Pratap Singh, leader of JAC Employees Union said, “Due to non-conduct of meetings, several decisions are pending including updated decision related to JAC budget, salary hike of employees and conduct of examinations. I appeal to the government to appoint members so that these decisions can be taken.”
Ajit Singh, a JAC employee, said, “We are waiting for a formal meeting of the council to decide on our pay hike and budget distribution.”
