Surat: Five people got new life on Saturday from the organs donated by a 66-year-old brain dead man. Pawan JainInhabitant of Punagam and native of West Bengal.

According to his family, after having tea and breakfast on Thursday morning, Jain’s blood pressure suddenly increased and he was taken to SMIMER Hospital, from where he was shifted to Kiran Hospital after first aid.
“Doctors declared Jain brain dead after which Donate Life officials were engaged to pacify the family members. The family agreed to donate and they knew about the importance of organ donation.” Nilesh MandlewalaPresident of Donate Life, which works for organ donation awareness.
“Organ donation is like a religious act and we agreed to it as my father was about to die. Instead of turning his organs into ashes, we decided to donate and some others live another day,” said Deepak, son of the donor.
One kidney was transplanted to a 22-year-old man from Bharuch, while the other was transplanted to a 28-year-old woman from the city. Liver A 53-year-old man from the city was transplanted. Two corneas were transplanted to a 68-year-old woman and a 54-year-old man, respectively.
