Delhi ends all Covid restrictions, schools offline from April 1

Coronavirus: Night curfew ends in Delhi as COVID-19 cases continue to decline

new Delhi:

Night curfew in Delhi will end from Monday, the government said today as COVID-19 cases continue to decline. The Delhi Disaster Management Authority or DDMA has also reduced the penalty for not wearing a mask from Rs 1,000 to Rs 500. All schools can take classes on campus from April 1.

Sources said the decision was taken to end the night curfew and fully reopen the schools as the cases of COVID-19 have come down. People are facing difficulties due to loss of businesses, he said.

With the lifting of the night curfew, shops, restaurants and other establishments may remain open till late night.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that the government, however, will keep a close watch on people to follow the COVID-19 safety measures.

If the national capital’s positivity rate, or the number of infections per 100 tests, remains below 1 per cent, the restrictions will remain inactive.

The DDMA in its meeting earlier this month had allowed on-campus learning for some classes in schools and colleges and shortened the night curfew from 11 pm instead of 10 pm.

The Chamber of Trade and Industry, a union of traders in Delhi, has written to the Lieutenant Governor, demanding that since the COVID-19 cases and infection rate are falling, the restrictions should be lifted completely.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has asked the states and union territories to consider relaxing the night curfew along with social, sports, entertainment, educational and religious events.
