New Delhi: Delhi Government On Saturday, Rs 5,000 was deposited in the accounts of 2.9 lakh registered construction workers after the government announced a ban on construction activities to control the deteriorating air quality in the national capital.
There are around 7 lakh registered construction workers in Delhi. Government assistance to construction workers will be transferred to the bank accounts of the remaining workers in a day or two.

Due to the closure of construction activities in Delhi due to air pollution, the livelihood of construction workers has stopped. Keeping this in mind, the Delhi government announced an assistance of Rs 5000 to all 7 lakh registered construction workers and Rs 350 crore was released for the same,” the government said in a statement.
The AAP government provided similar financial assistance to construction workers during the lockdown, when they were out of jobs for a long time. Kejriwal government is the first government which helps the laborers from time to time. Even during the Corona crisis, the Delhi government had sent a total of Rs 5000 to the accounts of all the construction workers.
Deputy CM Manish Sisodia said that the Delhi government stands with the construction workers at every step. “Workers are the backbone of the country, who strengthen the country. The workers are standing, our buildings are standing, the city is standing. Therefore, the respect and interest of workers is the main priority of our government. Construction activities have been stopped in Delhi, but the Delhi government will extend all possible help to their laborer brothers and sisters,” Sisodia said.
Sisodia said that till the construction activities in Delhi are closed, the government will conduct the registration drive through large registration camps organized on a large scale in Delhi to register the construction workers already registered with the construction board. This move will help the Delhi government to assist all construction workers in Delhi.
The government has estimated that there are around 10 lakh construction workers in the capital, of whom 7 lakh are now registered. “With the help of these registration drives, the Delhi government will also register construction workers with the board. This way all the workers can benefit from the schemes launched for the welfare of the workers,” Sisodia said.
It is worth mentioning that there are 6 lakh employees registered here. Delhi construction worker board And around 1 lakh employees are in the process of registration. After registration of workers whose registration is currently in process, an amount of Rs 5,000 will be sent to their accounts after the completion of registration.
