The Delhi government on Wednesday asked all fuel stations in the city to sell fuel from October 25 to only those vehicles which have a valid pollution control certificate.

In a notice issued by the transport department, owners of vehicles older than one year (except electric or battery-operated vehicles) were also asked to obtain Pollution Control Certificate (PUCC) for their vehicles.

The department is issuing notices to vehicle owners without valid PUCC to get them within a week or face suspension of registration certificate.

Apart from this, the city government has formed teams for PUCC at Anand Vihar Bus Terminal to check the buses coming from neighboring states.

The transport department has asked the vehicle owners to get a valid PUCC before October 25 to avoid inconvenience and take action as per law.

“Driving without a valid PUCC is punishable with a fine of ₹10,000 and imprisonment for up to three months, or both,” the notice said.

The Delhi government has intensified its crackdown on vehicles without valid PUCC in an effort to control pollution levels.

The Delhi Environment Department is considering issuing a mandatory notification to all dealers of petrol, diesel and CNG pumps to sell fuel to motor vehicles only on production of valid PUCC from October 25.

Earlier this month, Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai announced that Vehicle owners will not be given fuel at Delhi’s petrol pumps From October 25 without showing valid pollution control certificate.

He said that this decision was taken in a meeting of officials of Environment, Transport and Traffic Departments on 29th September.

“Vehicle emissions are one of the major contributors to the rising pollution in Delhi. It is imperative to reduce it, and hence, it has been decided not to provide petrol, diesel at petrol pumps from October 25 on vehicles without PUC certificates. Will be done.” Rai had said.
