The Delhi High Court suspended the Executive Committee of the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) for six months and also found that national coach Soumyadeep Roy was involved in match-fixing during the Olympic qualifiers in March.

The HC said that petitioner Manika Batra is “repeatedly pointing out issues to Respondent No. 1, though instead of working on the issues and promoting the players, but trying to dictate their terms to Respondent No. 1 players”. Used to be.”

“The court is of the view that if inquiry is not directed into the defendant’s cases and an administrator is not appointed to run the federation by suspending the executive body. In the meantime, the court shall fail in its duties towards Sportsmen and general public. The people of this country take pride in their sportspersons and therefore, it is in the fitness of things to inquire into the conduct of Respondent No. 1, which as per the report prima facie appears to be faulty in which the 3-member The Committee has observed that Respondent No. 1 is merely protecting the interests of its officers. In fact, no explanation has been provided by Respondent 1 or 3 as to why the coach was appointed as the National Coach when he was running the Individual Academy. “

The Delhi HC observed that the report of the inquiry committee “shows that the committee has shown conflict of interest as the respondent No. 3 continues to run his private academy despite being the national coach. Hence, no one except appointing an administrator to discharge the functions” There is no other option. Respondent No. 1 until the inquiry prayed for is completed.”

The ASG has informed the court that the Sports Authority may take action against TTFI under the National Sports Code due to allegations of misconduct by TTFI.

“The appointment of an administrator cannot be delayed”

“The Executive Committee of Respondent No. 1 shall no longer be permitted to make any decisions or interfere with the work of the Administrator. However, it is expected that since there are several upcoming tournaments, the Executive Member of the Board will submit to the Administrator, if necessary. All help.”

The appointee shall be authorized to sign the check on behalf of Respondent 1 and all banks shall ensure that it is respected. Will submit financial expenditure report to the Administrator every two months.

Now the matter is to be heard on April 13.
