The Kerala State Committee of the Students Federation of India (SFI) on Sunday decided to dissolve its Wayanad district committee over the alleged vandalism of Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s office by some activists.

In a Facebook post, the state committee said that at a meeting held during the day in Thrissur, it was decided to dissolve the Wayanad district committee and form a seven-member ad-hoc committee as an interim measure.

The Facebook post further stated that the action was taken because on June 24, the Wayanad district committee had organized a march to the Congress MP’s office without the knowledge of the state committee and the protest had become so aggressive that it was not before the public. The post said that Aldos Mathai, currently the district joint secretary of the SFI, will be the convener of the seven-member ad-hoc committee.

The vandalism of Rahul Gandhi’s office led the Congress to organize a massive rally at Kalpetta in Wayanad district and a Youth Congress protest in Kottayam allegedly turned violent.
