‘Dirty Hindu’: Indian-American man hurls racist abuses at another in US, charged with hate crime

A few days after the Plano Police Department in Texas Woman arrested for misbehaving with four Indian women As for his ethnicity, a new video has surfaced on social media in which an Indian-American man can be seen making a racist comment on another Indian.

The incident reportedly took place on August 21 in Fremont, California when Krishnan Jayaraman was abused and called a “dirty Hindu” by 37-year-old Tejinder Singh, who also happens to be of Indian origin.

According to media website KTLA, Singh spat on Krishnan and abused him for being a Hindu. Singh said, “You Hindus are a matter of shame, disgusting.”

The video of the incident was widely shared on social media. In the video, Singh can be heard using the N-word and repeatedly calling Krishnan disgusting and nasty to the person behind the camera. “This is not India,” shouted the abuser.

Krishnan was upset that the one who abused him was also an Indian. He was afraid that the abuser might do more harm by following him, so he called the police.

The Fremont police have charged Tejinder Singh with civil rights violations, assault and disturbing the peace by using offensive language.

While Fremont police are investigating the case, Police Chief Sean Washington addressed the community on social media. He termed the incident as reprehensible and assured legal action against hate crimes.

“We take hate incidents and hate crimes seriously and understand their significant impact on our community. These incidents are disgusting. We are here to protect all community members, regardless of their gender, race, nationality, religion And regardless of other differences,” the statement from Police Chief Sean Washington reads.

“We would like to urge the community to respect each other and to report immediately any situation that, after investigation, may escalate to the level of a crime. In the event of a hate crime, we are all available Resources to follow up and investigate,” Shawn said.

US House Representative from California Rohit Khanna took to Twitter to condemn the incident. “We must condemn all forms of discrimination, including hatred against Hindus,” he wrote.
