Disturbed by barking, Karnataka man shot dog: Police

Police have registered a case in this matter.

Bangalore:

Police said a man allegedly killed a dog with his airgun at Madagondanahalli in Doddaballapura, Karnataka, as he was apparently disturbed by its barking.

The incident is said to have taken place on Saturday evening and the accused has been identified as Krishnappa (45), a pig rearer.

According to the police, Krishnappa shot the dog several times as it was allegedly barking at him.

As the dog initially managed to escape from him, Krishnappa is said to have followed him, caught him on a field and fired at him several times, killing him.

Based on a complaint from Harish, a local dog caretaker, the police registered an FIR under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and Section 429 (killing or maiming cattle, etc.) of the Indian Penal Code.

He said that due process would be followed.
