‘Dosa is not Brahminical’: Billboard ‘promoting casteism’ has left a bad taste on Twitter

A picture of a billboard has gone viral on social media, leaving netizens angry. Billboard seems to be promoting a restaurant showing how one can enjoy “Tamil Brahminical” cuisine. “Courtesy Maruna Murmu. Some advertisers actually thought this was a good idea,” read the caption. Netizens who see the advertisement believe that such advertisements promote casteism and discrimination against people. The billboard shows a man holding a plate with dosa, to which netizens have argued that dosa is not a “Brahminical food” as everyone enjoys it equally. Take a look at the image:

“How is dosa Tamil Brahminical food? Do you think no one else in Tamil Nadu eats it? Or do you know that Tamil people do not dosa before Brahmins came to Tamil Nadu?” wrote one person in the comments section. Another person wrote, “Non-Brahmins should ensure that they do not enter such places Because you will only find vitamin casteism and vitamin hate there.” Since being uploaded, the image has garnered over 200 likes. People can also be seen retweeting the picture. He said, ‘Dosa is not from any caste. Connected. Anybody can make delicious dosa with rice and urad batter.
