ED interrogates Lalu Prasad’s daughter Ragini in railway scam land in lieu of job case

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday recorded the statement of Ragini Yadav, daughter of RJD chief Lalu Prasad, in a money laundering case related to her alleged land job in the railway scam. Sources gave this information.

Ragini Yadav appeared before the agency for questioning and her statement was recorded under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

The agency had raided the premises of Ragini Yadav, her sisters Chanda Yadav and Hema Yadav and former RJD MLA Abu Dojana in Patna, Phulwarisharif, Delhi-NCR, Ranchi and Mumbai in March this year.

On Monday, the ED recorded the statement of Ragini Yadav’s brother and Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, Tejashwi Yadav, in this matter.

Both the central agencies recently took action in the case, with the CBI questioning Lalu Prasad and his wife and former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi and the ED conducting raids against the RJD chief’s family.

The ED said after the searches that it has seized “unaccounted cash” of ₹1 crore and traced the proceeds of crime to ₹600 crore.

It said investigations are on to ascertain the investments made by Prasad’s family and their associates in various sectors, including real estate, at various places.

The alleged scam dates back to the period when Prasad was the railway minister in the UPA-1 government.

The agencies allege that during the period 2004-09 various persons were appointed to Group D posts in various zones of the Indian Railways and in return the concerned persons transferred their land to the family members of the then Lalu Prasad Was. Railway Minister and AK Infosystems Pvt Ltd, a beneficiary company in this case.

The CBI alleges that no advertisement or public notice was issued for the appointment, but some residents of Patna were appointed as officiating in various Zonal Railways located in Mumbai, Jabalpur, Kolkata, Jaipur and Hajipur.

The CBI had alleged that the candidates, directly or through their close family members, allegedly paid Prasad’s family members at highly subsidized rates, ranging from one-fourth to one-fifth of the prevailing market rates, as a quid pro quo. Sold the land. ,

Denying the allegations, Tejashwi Yadav had told reporters after his parents were interrogated by the CBI that Prasad, the then railways minister, had “no power” to provide employment in return for favours.
