Laylatul Qadr 2023: We are in the middle of the holy month of Ramadan. During this month, members of the Muslim community around the world fast from dawn to dusk. This spirituality reaches unprecedented heights on Shab-e-Qadr, also known as Laylat al-Qadr and considered one of the holiest nights in the Islamic calendar. Laylat al-Qadr is also known as the Night of Decree, the Night of Values, the Night of Power, the Night of Destiny, or the Night of Measures. Shab-e-Qadr falls on the last 10 days of the holy month of Ramzan.

Every year the last five odd nights of the ninth month in the Islamic calendar are celebrated as the nights of Shab-e-Qadr. Auspicious nights fall on the 21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th and 29th of the month of Ramadan. Whereas this year, according to the Gregorian calendar, the nights of Shab-e-Qadr will be celebrated on 13, 15, 17, 19 and 21 April.
Lailatul Qadr 2023: Significance
Devotees believe that whatever is asked for through their prayers during these nights is granted. It is said in the Holy Qur’an that praying in the nights of Laylatul-Qadr is better than praying for a thousand months. Hence, these nights are celebrated with great religious fervor by the Muslims all over the world. Shab-e-Qadr is believed to mark the night when the first verses of the Holy Quran were revealed to Prophet Muhammad.

It is believed that in the last five odd nights of Ramadan, the blessings and mercy of Allah are abundant. That’s why Muslims stay awake all night in these auspicious nights. Not only this but they dedicate the whole night in prayer, reciting the Holy Quran and seeking forgiveness for their sins.
Muslims believe that the reward of prayer and worship performed especially on Shab-e-Qadr is more than the reward of worship performed in 83 years. Apart from this, many Islamic scholars in different mosques read the meaning of all the important verses mentioned in the Holy Quran.
Lailatul Qadr 2023: Special Dua
During Shab-e-Qadr, a special dua is recited by the Muslim community around the world and it is ‘Allahumma innaka’ afuwun tuhibbul ‘afwa fa’fu ‘ani. In English, it means, O Allah you are the one who forgives a lot and loves to forgive, so forgive me.
