England all-rounder Ben Stokes hints at playing cricket

England all-rounder Ben Stokes has hinted at a return to cricket. Stokes’ video on Instagram showed the all-rounder batting in a net session at an indoor facility for the first time since taking an indefinite break from the game in July this year.

After posting a picture of himself holding a bat on Instagram on Monday for the first time in six months, Stokes on Thursday posted three encouraging videos where he was seen practicing his shots from throwdowns.

“It’s clothing casual training on Thursday … usually my first ball back and that’s what happened (laughing face emoji) … .. it’s good to be back to hit the balls.”

Commenting on Stokes’ post, pacer Jofra Archer wrote, “First ball could be 4 anyway (no matter how they come).”

Stokes withdrew before the start of the Test series against India and will not focus on his mental well-being and recovering his left forefinger in the men’s T20 World Cup as well as the 2021/22 Ashes.

Stokes fractured his left forefinger while fielding for Rajasthan Royals IPL After leaving the tournament in April 2021, Stoke needed surgery. In July, Stokes led a new ODI team to a 3-0 series win over Pakistan when the first-choice team was unavailable due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

A second surgery was performed in October to remove scar tissue and two screws from Stokes’ left index finger. Stokes stepping into the batting again will fuel speculation whether Stokes could still be a part of it Ashes in Australia later in the year.
