Kanpur: An atmosphere of panic in Sahasan area Chakarnagar tehsil of Etawah On Friday, residents noticed the pug marks of a leopard near the carcass of a pig.
The officials of Chambal Sanctuary have confirmed the discovery of the carcass of a domesticated pig during the investigation of the leopard’s pug marks.
He said that the employees of the sanctuary area were sent to the spot to ascertain the facts about the footprints.
Rajesh Kumar, a resident of Sahason, went to his farm as usual on Friday morning, where he found pugmarks of a leopard near the carcass of a pig lying on the ‘bandh’ of the field.
He immediately informed the other villagers who reached the spot.
He said, based on the findings, it appears that the pig was dragged and the leopard was brought to the field by crossing the link road leading to Sahason village.
The incident has created fear among the farmers as they have stopped visiting their fields at night.
Taking stock of the complaints, a team of sanctuary staff reached the spot, claiming that the carcass was that of a domesticated pig, but the leopard’s pug mark was suspected.
