Germany based sono motorshas recently launched cyan EV, an economical self-charging electric that uses the power of solar energy to recharge itself. The solar cells in the body panels of the Sion help it harness the energy of the sun and what’s more?, it can comfortably carry a family as Sono decided to go with an MPV format for the Sion Is.

Cyan Solar EV It has 456 half cells integrated into its body and adds a range of up to 245 km per week to the car’s battery pack. It also supports fast charging and slow charging. Using a public fast charger, the electric MPV can charge up to 80 percent in less than 35 minutes. The 54 kWh battery pack offers a total range of 305 km on a single charge.

The Sion is able to function as a bi-directional wallbox, which means it can be used to power your home for up to five days using a power plant. This capability is also extended to power tools and devices up to 3.7 kW during outdoor activities, other EVs can also be charged via Sion.

The no-frills philosophy has been extended to the interiors of the Sion as well, featuring a spacious interior space, large trunk, a digital infotainment screen and a 10-inch touch display at the centre. The Cyan Solar EV is expected to go on sale in 2023 and will retail for around USD 25,000 (roughly Rs. 20.59 lakh).
