F1 2022: Max Verstappen takes pole at Japanese GP, could seal championship tomorrow – Times of India

After a gap of two years, formula 1 Returns to the 5.807 km long Suzuka International Racing Course this season for 2022 Japanese Grand Prix, Max Verstappen Ferrari managed to secure a pole position after finishing fastest in Q3 ahead of drivers Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz are in second and third place respectively.

2022 Japanese Grand Prix Qualifying 1
Current championship leader Max Verstappen was fastest in Q1 with a lap time of 1:30.224, ahead of Carlos Sainz in second and Charles Leclerc in third. Fernando Alonso finished fourth, with Red Bull Racing’s Sergio Perez in fifth. Alex Albon, Pierre Gasly, Kevin Magnussen, Lance Stroll and Nicolas Latifi were the last five in that order, and therefore, did not make it into Q2.
2022 Japanese Grand Prix Qualifying 2
The second qualifying was led by Sergio Pérez, meanwhile his teammate Max Verstappen dropped to third. The two Red Bulls were separated in the second by the experienced Fernando Alonso. Alonso’s stablemate Esteban Ocon was fourth fastest in Q2, ahead of Lewis Hamilton in fifth. Daniel Ricciardo, Valtteri Bottas, Yuki Tsunoda, Zhou Guanyu and Mick Schumacher were disqualified in the second qualifier.
2022 Japanese Grand Prix Qualifying 3
Max Verstappen managed to grab pole position at the 2022 Japanese Grand Prix after leading the fastest in the third quarter. Charles Leclerc missed the pole by only +0.010 seconds, meanwhile Carlos Sainz was third fastest. Sergio Pérez came fourth ahead of Esteban Ocon, who takes P5 yesterday.
Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso, George Russell, Sebastian Vettel and Lando Norris will move up from sixth to tenth from tomorrow. If Max Verstappen manages to convert pole into victory with the fastest lap at Suzuka Circuit tomorrow, he will be able to seal the championship.
